brothers Justin & Ian Gregory are back in the studio with news songs and taking them on the road as John Emerson. Their music explores a panorama of emotions, reflections, song structures and production styles- taking cues from Classic Rock and R&B as well as Hip Hop and Electronic music- to create a listening experience that is both new and yet familiar. It’s their most experimental, personal and yet accessible Musical project do-date.

On New Years Eve in 2014, the Gregory Bros released their 12-song concept album Escherscapes as the artist Cotown Records, engineering and producing it entirely themselves. They had just turned 21 and 23 at the time.

Since then, they’ve produced and collaborated with a wide range of regional Colorado artists- and in the process refined their engineering and production skills- which culminated in the opening of their very vibey 1116 Studios, west of downtown Colorado Springs, in 2019. Their schedule kept getting busier. business was very good.

but behind the scenes, Justin and Ian were bursting at the seams creatively with little time for their own artistic pursuits. Nevertheless determined and often working late into the night, they racked up many demos of original songs and beats, riffs and concepts. They knew they were on to something.

A year ago in April, Justin and Ian tested out some of their new material for an enthusiastic audience in a “Live @ 1116” performance at their studio. the video is below, available in 4K in your YouTube settings. Feeling encouraged by their performance and how the music was received, they determined to put everything they had into developing John Emerson. 

a single, THERE AND THEN, was released last year, along with 3 NEW RELEASES in November. And there will be more SOON as Ian and Justin continue to methodically produce and finish tracks for their upcoming album, as well as a separate EP project, due out in the coming months.
